Best Beach Spots to Check Out in Virginia This Summer

Virginia is one of the oldest states in the country, and a lot of its history is because of that incredible shoreline.  If you’re planning a vacation soon and want to make the most out of your trip: consider stopping at one of these amazing beaches!

Why Virginia?

Although many people’s first thoughts for a beach vacation are usually South Carolina, Florida, or California: there’s a lot of coast on Virginia!  This fantastic state’s shoreline is one of the quietest areas to enjoy the beach while giving off east-coast beauty and warm natural-tan sand.

Virginia’s beaches are some of the oldest that were settled by colonists and are a long part of this nation’s history: while still looking so natural and untouched.  Any of these beaches offer the chance to enjoy the real beauty of this state and offer something that no other state in the country can!

Virginia Beach

By far the most famous beach in the state, Virginia Beach has to be at the top of the list!  This fantastic area has a massive number of things to do and see while you’re here and affordable Virginia Beach apartments for rent in case you decide to extend your stay!

From the three-mile boardwalk to the incredible restaurants and museums, you can enjoy taking in the views while also getting to spend time splashing in the waves or learning how to surf.  There’s no beach or city quite like Virginia Beach in the entire world.

Sandbridge Beach

If you want a quieter stretch of beach and don’t mind a little drive, consider making it out to Sandbridge Beach!  Although it’s still considered part of Virginia Beach, it’s a quieter 4.5-mile stretch of sand and shore that comes with far fewer tourist traps.

Visiting here allows you to enjoy fishing, kayaking, hiking, or anything else that could make you happy along the shoreline.  This is a must-stop destination for any beach lover who wants to get the most out of their trip.

Colonial Beach

At home between Monroe Bay and the Potomac River sits Colonial Beach.  Popular for tourists and incredibly pet-friendly, this area gives off the feeling of a small and comfortable resort town.  With everything from water sports to fishing and boating, you can enjoy taking in the gorgeous surroundings while sitting in one of the only seaport towns left on the Potomac River.

Assateague Island National Seashore

If you love equestrian animals, it’s time to check out Assateague Island National Seashore!  Home to the wild Chincoteague Ponies that were made world-famous by the book Misty of Chincoteague, this beach feels like it came out of a dream and is the perfect place to stop and catch up on rest and relaxation!  With 37 miles of sandy shoreline, reaching from Virginia to Maryland, you’ll fall in love with every single mile you travel here.

Virginia Has a Beach for Everyone

Whether you’re planning a vacation or considering moving here, Virginia is the dream for anyone who wants it.  Consider taking a trip out to this beachside state, and enjoy all of the sun and sand it has to offer!
